Mr Tickle is small and round and has arms that stretch and stretch and stretch. So, if you are in any way ticklish, beware those extraordinarily long arms. The Mr Men and Little Miss have been delighting children for generations with their charming and funny antics. Bold illustrations and funny stories make Mr Men and Little Miss the perfect story time experience for children aged two up. Have you met them all? It all started with a tickle.

Roger Hargreaves’ son Adam asked him what a tickle looked like. In response, Roger drew a small orange man with extraordinarily long arms that could reach anywhere and tickle anyone. Mr Tickle, the first of the Mr Men, was born. Mr Tickle was soon joined by Mr Greedy, Mr Happy, Mr Nosey, Mr Sneeze and Mr Bump. The books were an instant hit and Roger went on to create many more Mr Men and Little Miss characters. What Roger really wanted was to make children laugh, which is probably why his own favourite character is Mr Silly.

About the Author:

Roger Hargreaves was the original mastermind behind the colorful world of Mr. Men and Little Miss—those cheeky, charming little characters with big personalities and even bigger life lessons. It all started in 1971 when Roger’s son asked, “What does a tickle look like?” Roger’s answer? Mr. Tickle—a round, orange fellow with the longest arms you’ve ever seen and a grin to match!

From there, Roger created a whole universe of delightful characters, from Mr. Happy to Little Miss Sunshine, turning everyday emotions and quirks into laugh-out-loud stories with heart. His books became instant classics, selling millions worldwide and making bedtime a whole lot more fun.

When Roger passed away in 1988, the magic didn’t stop—his son Adam Hargreaves picked up the pen (and the paintbrush!) and continued the legacy with the same playful spirit and endless imagination. Adam has not only kept the Mr. Men and Little Miss world alive—he’s expanded it, introducing new characters, special editions, and even royal-themed books.

Together, Roger and Adam Hargreaves have brought joy, giggles, and a whole lot of personality to generations of readers. Their books remind us that everyone—whether you’re a little grumpy, a bit messy, or full of mischief—deserves a story of their own.
